Clear the Shelters
City of Wylie Animal Services is proud to join animal shelters across the country in hosting Clear the Shelters Day, planned this year for Saturday, Aug. 18, between 10 am and 5 pm.

During Clear the Shelters Day, adoption fees are waived, and all animals will have been spayed or neutered, have had all vaccines, have a microchip, have been dewormed, and have been treated with flea and tick eradication and prevention medication. City registration will be issued to all Wylie residents who adopt.

Animals will be sent to their new homes with extra goodies, often including food samples and other gifts from Petco. Adoptive families will also receive over $200 worth of free veterinary services from VIP Petcare, plus a 20-percent off coupon for any VIP Petcare-operated clinic.

Since 2014, more than 23,500 pets have been adopted from North Texas shelters and over 150,000 animals have found loving homes across the country during the event. In 2017, Wylie found forever homes for 47 animals; the DFW grand total was 7,542 and nationwide, 44,397. Let's keep the momentum going; many years, Wylie has been the first shelter to clear out 100 percent of its animals, and staff is hoping to do so in 2018!

Members of Girl Scout Troop 7749 will be on hand to give out free drinks and snacks, compliments of the City of Wylie. Thanks to East Plano Murphy Pet Hospital and Texas Coalition for Animal Protection for their support, helping pets get ready for their new homes by donating vaccinations and spay/neuter services respectively.

Visitors must be at least 18 years old with valid ID to adopt.

Pet Adoption
Looking for a cat or dog to adopt? Searching for a lost pet? Go to our Animal Services Facebook Page for photos and descriptions of animals that can be adopted at any time, not just during Clear the Shelters Day. Want to help the animals awaiting adoption? Donate a Kuranda bed.

Pets previously sterilized at the time of impoundment - $25
Unaltered pet - $75 (The Animal Shelter will provide a $50 voucher to assist with sterilization cost.)
